Moonwinds

The ensemble's members have exemplary backgrounds in leading orchestras and teaching institutions across Europe. The project's philosophy is based on combining artistic excellence with personal rapport among the musicians.

Moonwinds gave its first public performance in 2006 and that same year released its debut album with Harmonia Mundi, devoted to Mozart (Gran Partita) and to Martín y Soler, presented on a tour through the Valencian Community and Catalonia. Its second album, also with Harmonia Mundi, included a transcription of Martín y Soler's opera «Una cosa rara» and was presented at Cadogan Hall in London. The third CD, featuring Mozart's Serenades, was released under the Temps Record label.

In 2017 «Le jour de l'an» (IBS) was released, dedicated to recovering music by Salvador Bacarisse and Jesús Bal y Gay, which won the Melómano de Oro award and was presented at the Fundación Juan March in Madrid. In 2022 «En estil popular» appeared, a tribute to Valencian composers linked to the aesthetic movement of the Second Republic.

More recently, Moonwinds has led the recovery of two unpublished ballets by Martín y Soler, performed in concert and recorded on the album «Un viaje a Nápoles» (Aria Classics), which won the Melómano de Oro and was named among the 10 best albums of 2024 by Enderrock magazine.

The ensemble has performed at venues including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London —marking the inauguration of the Spanish Presidency of the EU in 2010—, the Crusell Festival in Uusikaupunki (Finland), the Palau de la Música Catalana and the Palau de la Música in Valencia, and was resident ensemble at L'Auditori in Barcelona for the 2012–2013 season.

It has recently been invited to festivals in Český Krumlov (Prague) and to concert halls in Bilbao, Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona. It will soon embark on new tours across Spain and Europe, and is preparing a new CD devoted to historical recoveries and its own premiere repertoire.
