Synopsis
Bach Washes Whiter is a musical theatre production in which a violist and a cleaning lady cross paths by chance on stage. A scheduling error is the cause of the awkward situation the two women find themselves in. The violist wants to start the concert right away, since the audience is already seated, but the cleaner doesn't want to leave because her work matters too.
Little by little, the music seeps into the cleaner, who becomes enthralled by the concert. She imagines people coming up on stage following her orders, until she finds herself surrounded by a choir singing Bach's «Crucifixus», creating a celestial atmosphere that lifts her above her everyday reality.
It's an ode to the power of imagination and the emotional power of Bach. In Esther Apituley's concerts, the finest classical music is performed in an informal, intimate atmosphere; working with a local choir adds an extra dimension to the show.
